The Japan summer programs for students over 18 year old feature a theme of culture discovery integrated with language learning. The Japanese language classes will be taught in a combination of Japanese and English, which a focus on the spoken in the lower levels, while higher levels have a better balance of reading, writing, speaking and listening. Prior knowledge in Japanese in not required, although many students do. The culture classes and excursions provide students with opportunities to experience the Japanese arts and culture in Tokyo and surrounding areas. The homestay experience allows you to experience the real Japan, while dormitories is provided to those students who wants to living in a group setting.
Requirements:
minimum age 18 years old by the program start date, and usually have finished high school.

The program fee includes:

Consortium Agreement: we accept college students’ financial aid from their university or college on our program. Please ask your financial aid office about the policy and procedures, often you are required for approval for course credit first. If approved, please fax or email us a copy of “Consortium Agreement” to sign.
Courses & Trips:
The Tokyo, Japan summer programs have a focus on course instruction, a mixture of culture exposures, language activities and culture trips. All the Japanese classes are conducted by teachers with experience of teaching Japanese language to international students. Students are separated into different classes according to their language proficiency. During the free time in some afternoons or on Sundays, students normally prefer to spend their time with new friends or with their host families. Students can choose either dormitory, apartment or homestay. These programs have classes for all levels.
The classes are Monday to Friday 20 lessons a week. They run in the morning from 9:10am-12:40pm. The class rooms are located in the Chiyoda-ku of Tokyo. Many culture activities and trips are included, they range from tea ceremony to calligraphy, from Asakusa trip to Harajuku trip, and overnight trip to Fuji Mountain or Kyoto. Please refer to the program schedule for details. The difference among A, B & C types are the dates and trips.
Credits:
Students could earn credit for completing the summer programs. Upon finishing your courses, you will be provided with certificate, or letter of attendance stating the courses you completed, level, hours, and grade. We can send you a course description when you apply for a credit transfer, please bring it to your academic advisor.
Accommodation:
Homestay
The homestay allows students to live with local Japanese families, it is a quick way to improve the Japanese language and learn the culture. Students have their own bedroom. Meals are provided by the host family except lunch on school days. Usually your host families do no speak fluent English, but most of them can speak and understand basic English.
Dormitory:
For those students who want to live in dormitory, it allows them to stay together with other students. The dormitories are managed by third parties. A 30,000 Yen dorm deposit is required, it will be refunded less the cleaning, electricity and damage charges. It is expected that students from our school and those from other schools will live together in the same building. Meals are not provided, but students can cook in the shared kitchen. There are also many places to dine within walking distance.
